MINDSET and the SELF IMAGE

April 16th, 2010 · Internet Marketing

A common formula for success is

MINDSET + METHOD + ACTION = SUCCESS

or

MINDSET + INFORMATION = CORRECT ACTION => SUCCESS

I have learned the information and I have learned the blueprint.  I have applied the information but I have not been consistent with it.  Why is this So? I am thinking that it must be a mindset problem.

I have heard,  you will only make money in according to your self-image aka financial thermostat (If you want to learn more about the self image pick up Dr. Maltz Classic book Psycho-Cybernetics). If this is true I need to turn up my financial thermostat.   I feel that I have negative views towards alot of this self-help information like the Secret, Think and Grow rich just because it sounds too good to be true.  However Multi-millionaires swear by it.

So for the rest of the month.  I am going to spend my time learning about the correct mindset and the sub-conscious mind.

I am going to go through John Assarafs Having it All Program and Bob Proctor’s You Were Born Rich.

Life Update - Aha’s Insights and Mindset Changes

March 29th, 2010 · Internet Marketing

So I haven’t made a post in a while so here is an update on what I have been up too.

1. I GOT a 9-5 Job. This is huge, this was much needed and now I will have consistent income coming in.   I can finally have some money to fund my business projects.  When you don’t have the experience factor and you are working with a mindset of desperation it is not the easiest to stay focused.

2.I have been reading a book a week.  It has been a real good experience.  I have been trying to read book by more established people(Dan Kennedy, Robert Ringer) and learn about money and how the world works. You can read the reviews over at MikeMarin.com

3.I realized my major sticking points are internal sticking points.

I have heard it thousands of time that success is an inside job.  Success starts in the mind.  Rich is a state of mind.  I have been studying psycho-cybernetics and applying it when I can. (For some reason or another its hard to sit there and visualize for 15 minutes everyday.)  This month and next month I am going to focus on getting the inner game of money right.

4. I will be starting a REAL business.  I will post updates on here.  No more following guru after guru and listening to program after program. Now that I have a job and money will becoming in I can follow a proven business system and apply it. It is the model that I have discovered and have been promising to tell you about…

5.Im working for FreeMarketingMadeEasy I am helping Kai Rostcheck over at FreeMarketingMadeEasy with the launch of his homestudy course.   I will be writing the copy so go check that out.

No Nonsense Guide to Article Marketing Part 1

February 23rd, 2010 · Beginners, Internet Marketing, SEO

If you want to learn how to expand your business with the use of article marketing then you will want to read this article.

First off why should you use online article marketing for your business. In my opinion there are 4 very good reasons

1. Instant Credibility/expert statues/ Authority

That’s right articles are a great way to let people know. Being the author an article has always received respect from society, for one reason or another Author = Expert. If someone wrote a book on fitness people automatically assume he is a fitness expert. With authoring articles it is no different especially if your article provides outstanding content.

With expert status you also will come off as an authority which will allow you to have greater influence over your readers as Robert Cialdini pointed out in his excellent book Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion.

2. Free Targeted Website Traffic

The traffic you will be receiving from the way I will show you how to use them will be the highest quality of traffic. Not only will that it be free traffic. By distributing your articles to certain sites that Google loves they will appear in the search engines results page (SERP) (more on this later). This is also called “bum marketing”

3. Link Power

Although I am not going to cover SEO in-depth in this series, articles can be used to add links and improve search engine page rankings

Pre Article Basics

Before you write the article you are going to want to know a few things. Such as what is goal of this article? You are also going to know what keywords you are writing this article for

Keyword Research

Someone once said keywords are the currency of the internet. I agree. The right batch of keywords in the right hands is worth a fortune. For article marketing purposes we are going to go after the Longtail Keyword.

What is a longtail keyword? A longtail keyword is opposite that short-tail/mainstream keyword. Long tail keywords are often 3 or more words

Example: “shorttail = gardening” “longtail = gardening tools for cheap prices”

While the shorttail keyword will get lots and lots of traffic, thousands mabey even millions of seaches per month do not have high conversion rates to sales because they are untargeted. Plus these terms are extremely competitive and could take years to rank for them so your chances.

Long-tail keywords while they have less traffic sometimes are not competitive and you can be receiving traffic form them within 24 hours

A quick lesson on how the average person searches

Let’s say john is looking to buy a pickup truck

Step1: John goes to Google and types in “pickup truck” From here he is taken to a big car site and looks around at the different. After a while he finds more of what he wants and information overload begins to set in so he goes back to Google.

Step 2: Back on Google he types in “cheap pickup trucks Massachusetts” he gets some more information and then again goes on Google to refine his search, yet again

Step 3: He types in “Buy 2010 Ford F-150 Massachusetts” the long tail keyword. Now there are much fewer results from Google and he is ready to buy or look carefully at this information. This is the term we want to get our article to rank for.

Now this is not how every person uses the search engines but it an idea of how people use long-tail keywords and why they are so targeted.

Getting Long Tail Keywords

We want keywords that get enough traffic and we are easily going to be able to get our articles to rank for using the power of the distribution sites and have commercial intent.

Keyword Checklist

  • Keyword is 3-7 words long
  • Keyword gets 300 searches per month on phrase match
  • Less than 10,000 optimized results (when you type your keyword in quotes)
  • There is Commercial Intent (Google displays ads when you do a search with the keyword)

I think the best way is to learn by example so lets say we have a gardening store and want to use article marketing. Now keep in mind I know practically nothing about gardening.

Step 1. Brainstorm Keywords to create your base list

Hands down “You” are the most powerful keyword research tool on the planet. So the First question you want to ask yourself is.

What would you search to find you?

Off the top of my head I would search example) “garden tools, gardening supplies, gardening tools, cheap garden tools, buy garden tools”

Step 2: Expand your keyword list using Google’s Keyword Tool for each of your base keywords

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

gardentools2

Step 3: Compile list and remove any keyword that has less than 300 searches per month and has more than 10,000 competing pages (This is where a tool like market samurai can come in handy)

923competiting

Now that Is too much competition

Step 4: Marvel at Your Keyword list

Next Lesson I will show you how to Research and write the Article

Drama, Charltans, Propeganda

February 3rd, 2010 · Beginners, Internet Marketing, Mindset

In my quest to make money and learn from people teaching how to make money I have been very sceptical on who to listen too.  The how to make money and self improvement market in my opinion is a dangerous market because their is no barrier to entry. Anyone can slap up a page and get some fake screen shots and say that they are making $1,000,000 a Year.

Example: HOW I MADE $37,877.26 in 4 DAYS

fakeclickbank

You gotta be careful.  Ill have a video and show you how you can do this.  It’s scary how easy it is too do.

Ryan Healy just wrote a Blog Post called Internet Marketing On Life Support.   Where he talks about perry belcher, stompernet and Brad Fallon,  Its pretty interesting.

Another site to check out is the Salty Droid.

I have been through 23 products and fell for the hype.  I have wasted my time learning B.S.

BOTTOM LINE - steps you can take to avoid wasting your money and more importantly wasting your time, and make sure who you are learning from has a proven track record.

1.Learn only from the Best and those who are reputable.  Who do I recommend, I recommend that you learn from the masters (Gary Halbert, Dan Kennedy, Jay Abraham, John Carlton), not some 32 year old car mechanic who learned from them and is going to teach you a watered down version .

2.Study 1 good product and extract all you can from it.  Read it or go through it 7-10 times. Don’t Do what everyone else, buy one product then buy the next hyped up product.  We all have done it, heck I did it for the first six months.  (This is advice I have heard from very successful people and I am finally following it)

The Kaizen Way: One Small Step Can Change Your Life

January 21st, 2010 · Internet Marketing, Mindset, Productivity

I recently finished reading the book The Kaizen Way by Robert Maurer Ph. D. which was recommend by copywriter Scott Haines.  Kaizen is a philosophy of continuous improvement similar to that of which Deming taught in Japan.  The premise that the longest journey begins with a single step.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THIS BOOK

If your reading this blog and your having trouble taking action then this will be for you.

Here’s his explanation:

large goal –> fear –> access to cortex restricted –> failure

Failure

small goal –> fear bypassed –> cortext engaged –> success

borat nice

Since we are creature of habit, when we try to make drastic changes to our behavior we are often come up with resistance.  That’s why just setting long term goals is not good enough.

Conclusion: Set Small Daily Goals. (every since I have done this the amount of action I have taken has tripled)

What I have been up too and My plans for 2010

January 8th, 2010 · Internet Marketing, Mindset

Haven’t made a blog post in a while and that’s because I have been busy working, applying to jobs, and starting my latest business.  I killed the affilioblueprint experiment because it is not the business model that I wanted to have.  The work is not wasted since I am using that work in my latest business.

After going through 30 or so on programs about internet marketing and watching how the guru’s sell I have come to some conclusions that I will share in the video blog post in the upcoming weeks.   I have also been picking up some spare cash writing articles.  You can check out my site articlewritingmike.com for more details.

I also have been studying copywriting everyday for 30 minutes and finally finishing reading Gary Halberts’s recommended reading  list which is as follows

1.Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins

2.Robert Collier Letter Book

3.Tested Advertising Methods by John Caples

4.How to Write Good Advertisement by Vic Scwab

5.The Boron Letters by Gary Halbert

6.The Lazy Man’s Way to Riches by Joe Karbo

7.Break Through Advertising by Eugene Schwartz

8.7 Steps to Freedom by Ben Suarez

Also I have copied out the ads he recommends by hand which was a lot of work.

I learned a ton about internet marketing/business/and life in 2009.  I just didn’t take enough action, spent too much time learning and not earning. 2010 the time for messing around over. ACTION is the keyword for 2010.

“More Answers Will Be Found Through Movement Than Will Ever Be Found Through Meditation” - Gary Halbert

My Plans for 2010

1. Continue to Learn Copywriting (Its one of the most valuable skills out there you can learn)

2.Plan my days out and follow the 3 to 1 rule. Meaning for every hour of learning three hours of action. Speed of Implementation

3.Practice creating and selling information products. (This is my new business)

4.Learn Only from the Best (I want to get and study all of Dan Kennedy’s products in 2010)

5.Most importantly work on creating a better lifestyle in 2010

Common Mistakes Pt.1 and my suggested solutions

November 10th, 2009 · Beginners, Internet Marketing

It seems to me that us internet marketers make the same common mistakes.  I too have fallen into that tht e trap and probably have made every one of them now.

Mistake #1 Information Overload and getting in an endless cycle of learning

I know that I am not alone on this one. Since I have started learning about internet marketing, I have gone through 22 programs! I know, very stupid.  I am in an endless cycle of learning and I know it.  Its common sense when you are learning you are not earning -  Bottom Line.

Solution I found - Abidding to Eric Louviers 3:1 Ratio Rule.  Meaning that for every 1 hour of learning you spend 3 hours applying. Getting the Job Done

Mistake #2 Trying to learn everything

Trying to learn everything is another big mistake that I have made.

“You can’t dabble your way to riches”-Frank Kern

I have learned about google adwords, graphic design - ebook covers, CPA, affiliate marketing, adsense, SEO, article marketing, brokering, copywriting, how to use wordpress, how to use xsitepro, dreamweaver, how to build minisites, html, auto responders, market research, keyword research.

Pretty impressive list but it hasnt made me much money.

Solution I found - Focus on learning the most critical elements and get good at them.  I have learned that there are 4 pillars to online success that almost everyone who is very successful online  is good at.  If you analyze most of the guru’s out there you will notice that they have one of these skills mastered.

1.Copywriting

2.Product Creation

3.Testing & Tracking

4.Jv

5.Traffic

Week 5

So Week 5 was and introduction to SEO.  Mark Ling covered the basic of optimizing your pages. He covered what he calls the 10 Factors to On Page Optimization.  Nothing really revolutionary here, most of this information you can find for free online.  He does show you how to use Traffic Travis to Analyze your on page factors, which is a neat function of that program.

Week 5 Stats

Total viewing time = Approx. 1 hr 24 minutes

Homework = appr 2 hr

Money Spent This Week = 0

The Gary Halbert Letter 1986

October 23rd, 2009 · Copywriting, Internet Marketing

One of the best resources that I have found online with information regarding how to make money is the Gary Halbert Newsletter. Started in September 1986 this newsletter was originally priced at 195/year. It contains so many nuggets of valuable information. I have found this better than any internet marketing product out there, best of all it is FREE. However one thing that I found particularly annoying is that none of the issues are dated, and many issues reference the previous issue. That is why I have went by and attempted to date some of them.
